Where to startIn the city, since everything you need is a short walk away. Alternatively, Fremantle for a more laid-back vibe, or Northbridge for nightlife. Where to eat Northbridge and Fremantle are your best bets, since both offer a nightlife after you’ve eaten. Anywhere near water is usually good, with Sydney views at Pizza Hut prices. Where to shop Since Perth is so broad, there’s rarely a cluster for one-stop anything, but Subiaco is the place for everything from high-end fashion and growers’ markets to bookshops and funky furniture. Where to party Perth is home to Australia’s longest-running nightclub, Connections, a small but diverse club in the centre of Northbridge. It’s open all week, but Fridays and Saturdays are best. Start your night at the gay-friendly Court Hotel a couple of blocks away. Where to get away from it all Visit Margaret River for gastronomic delights and world-class wineries, as well as the myriad of underground crystal caves. Alternatively, head to Monkey Mia to frolic with the dolphins, or to really get away, check out Broome on the edge of the Kimberly region. Enjoy the blend of colonial Australian and Asian cultures, and laze the days away on Cable Beach. |
